The Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis is going to Ghent, Belgium, in order to participate in the meetings of the informal Eurogroup and ECOFIN.

Later on the same day, the ECOFIN meeting will follow, during which the new president of the European Investment Bank, Nadia Calvinio, will present her priorities and an exchange of views will follow. The issue of encouraging the participation of small investors in the financial markets will also be discussed in conjunction with the need to strengthen education in economic matters.
The ECOFIN meeting will continue on Saturday, with an exchange of views on the issue of the competitiveness of the European Union, in the presence of the former Prime Minister of Italy and former President of the ECB, Mario Draghi, who has been entrusted with the preparation of a related Report.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Mr. Hatzidakis will have meetings with European officials.
