The head of the Prime Minister’s Economic Office, Alexis Patelis, spoke about the visit of Kyriakos Mitsotakis to India on SKAI and the program ATARIASTI on Monday morning.

As he said, this is the most populous country in the world with 1.4 billion people which faces our country -which has 10 million people-, equally and this is very important.

Mr. Patelis added that after Brexit India lost its natural ally which was the United Kingdom and is looking for an anchor in the EU

“There is the famous IMEC interconnection between India and Europe which will pass the Red Sea and end up in Greece, which is a very big opportunity for our country. Let’s also remember that we currently export one euro per Indian, so the margins are very big in tourism and other sectors as well”

“For example, in tourism, the GMR company that owns the airport in New Delhi is also building the airport in Kastelli. Furthermore, we want to attract film productions to our country and we are also interested in agri-food”.

He explained that “our pharmaceutical industries can export from our country, while we can also make a New Delhi-Athens connection that does not exist today”

Finally he added that “There is a lot of interest from Indian businessmen in investing in Greece”
