As we move into the “incident” period of preparation for filing tax returns, a number of deadlines for settling tax obligations are expiring in the coming days. Obligations that, if ignored, will significantly cost the wallets of the “forgetful”.
Starting with the obligations around the property, today is the last day in which property owners who rent them through Airbnb have the opportunity to update – if required – their profile on Short Term Lease Registry. In addition, it is the last day for any corrections to the provisional declarations they have submitted and concerning e.g. other beneficiaries, or income rates. A property which was declared as a short-term let in 2022 but did not work last year must be corrected on the register and the same applies the other way around. The negligent risk fines from €5,000 to €20,000 or 50% of the unreported income.
It is recalled that the deadline specifically for short-term rental platforms and their obligation to send the details of all transactions they carried out in 2023 expired on Monday with fines here reaching up to €500,000
Her Friday March 1st the extension given to the owners of properties insured against natural disasters to enter the relevant platform of AADE and match the insurance policy with the property and thus earn a 10% discount on this year’s ENFIA. The property must be simultaneously insured for floods, earthquakes and fires and the insured value, especially for this year, must be at least €900/sq.m.
A day earlier, on Thursday, February 29, the extension granted by the Ministry of Finance for the payment of this year’s traffic fees also comes to an end. In case of negligence, the owner of the I.X. will be required to pay twice the amount of fees.
Many cases have been observed every year in which owners of I.X. they pay via e-banking shortly before midnight but eventually pay the fine because the payment is slow to appear in the AADE system. A solution in such a case could be the IRIS direct payment system.
At the same time, the period of time that was available to those who wanted to immobilize their vehicle and thus avoid traffic fees is coming to an end.
Today is also the deadline for couples who want to submit this year separate tax returns. Those who have already made a relevant application in previous years do not need to repeat it unless they want the members of the couple to return to the joint declaration status.
In addition, tomorrow is the last day for the payment of the last installment for ENFIA and income tax, as well as for the debt settlement installment for EFKA and AADE.
