Owners of vehicles that are up to date with the IPVA (Imposto sobre Operações de Veículos Automotores) in São Paulo can obtain the digital document of the car on the website of the Detran in São Paulo.
Since May 2020, the CRLV (Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate) is no longer printed. In January 2021, it was time for the CRV (Vehicle Registration Certificate) to also stop being issued in traditional green leaf paper money.
The licensing and ownership data were then unified in the CRLV-e (Certificate of Vehicle Registration and Licensing in digital media), a mandatory document that authorizes the circulation of the vehicle.
In 2022, licensing costs BRL 144.86. This year, as in 2021, there is no charge for mandatory insurance, the DPVAT.
The payment schedule has changed (see calendar below) to accompany the new IPVA installment, which went from three to five months – the installments are due between February and June.
The owner of the vehicle needs to have the IPVA paid off to pay the licensing. Anticipation is optional.
Those who prefer to follow the regular schedule of Detran.SP for licensing will make the payment between July and December, except for truck and tractor owners, for whom the salaries will be in the months of October, November and December.
The payment of IPVA in installments ends in June and, as of July, the vehicle owner will be able, according to the license plate of his vehicle, to make the new license.
Driving a vehicle with an expired license is considered a very serious traffic violation. The fine is R$ 293.47 and the driver takes seven points on his CNH (National Driver’s License). According to Detran.SP, the vehicle can also be collected, which results in other expenses for the owner.
who can apply
The document can be requested by the owner of the vehicle or his attorney, in the case of an individual vehicle. In the case of a legal entity vehicle, such as companies, the owner or legal representative of the legal entity must carry out the licensing.
The vehicle must be registered in a municipality in the state of São Paulo, have a three-letter license plate and cannot present outstanding debts, such as fines and late IPVA, or judicial and administrative restrictions.
How to make
- Access the Detran portal with CPF and password; if it is the first access, it will be necessary to register
- Check debts and impediments on IPVANet and other restrictions and blocks in the Detran search
-
Pay the new CRLV-e issuance fee of R$ 144.86 at bank branches, ATMs, lottery or online, informing the Renvam (National Vehicle Registration) number
-
After 24 hours of payment of the license and any debits, check if the document has already been issued in the Monitoring of Vehicle Services of the Detran
-
The document can be downloaded or printed from the same link, on the Senatran service portal and on the Digital Transit Card application, Poupatempo Digital and Detran.SP
The driver can print on plain bond paper (white A4). Printing is not required. The vehicle owner will only be able to keep the digital document on their cell phone.
If the owner of the vehicle died, the vehicle is official or has administrative blocks, the licensing must be done in person at a Detran unit in SP or Poupatempo.
regular calendar
According to the regular calendar, passenger vehicles and buses can pay the license from July, regardless of the end of the license plate. The deadline for payment follows a calendar based on the final plate number:
