The tourist season in Greece will start earlier, specifically in March, according to what the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias stated in an interview given to Reuters.
Mr. Kikilias stressed that there are positive signs for this summer.
“There is great demand and great momentum for Greek tourism in 2022. The major travel agents and major airlines want to extend the tourist season from March to December,” said the Minister of Tourism.
In 2021, Greece far exceeded its target for tourism revenues, a fact which Mr. Kikilias characterized as “a positive sign that allows us to be optimistic”, emphasizing that “the summer season begins for us this year on March 1” and that there is already an increased demand of visitors for Greece.
“After the huge global public health crisis, people tend to want to travel, enjoy their holidays, spend money. “And I think that Greece is in pole position”, stressed Mr. Kikilias.
