Total final consumption expenditure increased by 1.8% (household consumption increased by 1.8% and that of the General Government by 2.7%)
GDP rose 2% last year to 194.5 billion euros against 190.7 billion euros in 2022.
At the same time, also according to ELSTAT’s quarterly and annual national accounts data, GDP increased by 0.2% in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the third quarter, while compared to the fourth quarter of 2022 there was an increase by 1.2%.
It is noted that in the first quarter of 2023 the GDP increased by 2%, in the second quarter by 2.7%, in the third quarter by 2.1% and in the fourth quarter by 1.2% (compared to the corresponding quarters of 2022).
The increase in GDP by 2% last year came from the following changes:
*The total final consumption expenditure increased by 1.8% (household consumption increased by 1.8% and that of the General Government by 2.7%).
*Private investment (gross fixed capital investment) decreased by 5.7%.
*Exports of goods and services increased by 2.1% (exports of goods decreased by 1.6%, while exports of services increased by 4.7%).
*Imports of goods and services showed an increase of 0.03% (imports of goods increased by 1.6% and imports of services decreased by 4%).
Whereas, the 1.2% increase in the fourth quarter is due to the following changes:
*Total final consumption expenditure increased by 1.2% (household consumption increased by 1.4% and that of the General Government by 2.2%).
*Private investment (gross fixed capital investment decreased by 2.6%
*Exports of goods and services increased by 0.4% (exports of goods decreased by 0.5%, while exports of services increased by 0.8%).
*Imports of goods and services increased by 1.9% (imports of goods increased by 1.2%, while imports of services increased by 4.4%).
