The Delphi Economic Forum, the most influential annual conference which takes place in Greece with global entries, takes place from today, Wednesday, April 10 up to and including Saturday, April 13, 2024.

As every year, the Forum is under the auspices of the HE of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, who will announce at 12:00 the start of the work.

According to what Simeon Tsomokos, President of the Delphi Economic Forum, said at a press conference, the Forum’s ninth annual meeting is entitled “The Great Transition” and will focus on the multifaceted transitions our world is experiencing today. “We really believe that the world is changing radically in areas such as geopolitics, climate, technology, etc. We are in a very big transition and that is why the main theme of the 9th Delphi Economic Forum is: “The Great Transition”” he pointed out.

The conference will feature more than 1,000 speakers from 70 countries, including President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar, President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović, Queen Dana of Jordan, OECD Secretary General Mathias Cormann, European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schoinas , European Commissioner for the Economy Paolo Gentiloni and Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi. Also attending will be the former President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, the former Prime Minister of Sweden for a decade Stefan Löfven and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Mariya Gabriel, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Moldova Cristina Gherasimov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Radoslaw Sikorski, the leader of the democratic opposition in Belarus Svietlana Tsikhanouskaya, the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania Besart Kadia, the Minister of Innovation and Development of Bulgaria Milena Stoycheva and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Filip Ivanovic.

Special emphasis will be placed again this year on the issues concerning the opportunities and challenges of Greece, with a series of topics on health, education, entrepreneurship and innovation, the green transition, but also the future of individual sectors of the economy, such as banking, energy, shipping, real estate and infrastructure. All important representatives of the country’s political leadership and business vanguard are expected to attend. Special discussions will also be held on the occasion of the emblematic anniversary of the 50th anniversary of the restoration of democracy, but also for the 20th anniversary of the organization of the Athens Olympic Games.

Through discussions and the exchange of arguments, the Forum will seek to find answers to some of the most pressing issues that concern our world today, making it a world in critical transition: the transformation of climate change into a climate crisis, the resurgence of geopolitical rivalries and the formation of a multipolar world, the emergence of new revolutionary technologies, the footprint of which has not yet been sufficiently clarified, the return of the logic of war, but also the future of democracy. These discussions will take place around six central thematic pillars (Geopolitics, Planet, Sustainable Economy and Financial Sector, Future, Education and People) and always with the awareness that the decisions we will take today, in this transitional phase, will have a decisive influence the shape our collective future will take.

It is noted that the program was formed in collaboration with the most important Greek and international think tanks and institutions. Thirty think tanks and global international organizations, from 70 countries, 800 speakers on more than 25 topics, give this year’s Forum geographical pluralism, thematic variety and a truly international look at contemporary issues.
