‘Jump’ in the price of gas after the escalation in Ukraine – Brent to a seven-year high

by

“Jump” 11% recorded the price of gas, after stormy developments in Ukrainereaching 81 euros per megawatt hour.

At the same time, Brent hit a seven-year high at $ 97.55 a barrel, up 2.26%.

Meanwhile, KYSEA will consider today the scenario of cutting off the country’s gas supply from the Russia-Ukraine pipeline.

DEPA has already sounded the alarm and as company sources now report, they are turning to US gas imports through Revythousa, the Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal in Megara.

Typically, the same sources reported that American ships transporting natural gas and originally destined for Asian countries, are expected to arrive in Greece soon, so as not to face a supply problem.

DEPA, if necessary, will activate all those scenarios, in collaboration with RAE and Ministry of Energy so that the production of energy from the thermal gas power plants can continue uninterruptedly and the supply of gas to handicrafts and households can continue.

At the same time, the possibility of “locking” the price will be examined, based on the scenarios found in the code for the emergency.
