Panel SA: Anac wants to reduce the airline’s impact on the environment

by

Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency) opens this week a new program of best practices in environmental management among air operators to reduce the impacts of aviation on the environment in the country.

Called SustentAr, the project is an expansion of the environmental management program for sustainable airports, which has already had other editions, but will now expand to air passenger, cargo and air taxi companies.

The objective, according to Anac, is to consolidate and disseminate ESG practices in the sector, such as the new models for offsetting emissions with passenger participation and the reduction of plastic packaging, for example.

Operators’ initiatives will be evaluated on topics such as energy transition, operational efficiency, atmospheric emissions, environmental education and others.

Anac says that the companies’ participation will not be mandatory. The data sent by the companies will be presented in an agency report.
