Answers to announcement of accountants-tax technicians who talk about problems with the pre-completed tax returns and request an extension for their submission was given by AADE.

Specifically, it states the following:

“Regarding the pre-completion of the income tax returns, the procedure that is followed every year and which is known to accountants-tax technicians was followed again this year.

In particular, as every year, this year the taxpayers’ declarations are pre-completed with the data sent to AADE by the obliged private and public entities (credit institutions, public entities, employers, etc.), who are responsible for the correct and complete sending of these data, and completing or correcting them, where required.

Accordingly, as every year, so also this year, taxpayers have the opportunity to see the pre-completed data and correct – fill in the information that concerns them directly or contact the institution that sent them, so that the institution can proceed with the correction, as provided by law.

The above is known to the tax accountants and issues that may have arisen in the past were dealt with by the AADE services in collaboration with the tax accountants, without corresponding public announcements, with the result that the expediency of the said announcement is questionable.

Furthermore, for the first time this year, 1.3 million citizens with incomes mainly from wages or pensions have been given the possibility to see the information sent for them to the AADE, as well as the tax that is derived based on it.

As it has been said from the beginning, if these citizens check that the information is correct or complete, they will not need to submit a declaration, as it will be finalized by the AADE on 2/7/2024. They also have the option of amending the declaration without penalties until 26/7/2024.

Also, as it has been announced, for the first time this year, the AADE will notify taxpayers who have submitted declarations or are included in the above category of 1.3 million citizens of any changes to their data by the agencies, so that they can check them again and proceed in an amending statement, if required.

Therefore, the entire procedure followed this year, not only does not differ from that of previous years, but is even simpler for taxpayers. Moreover, all this has been announced in time and was fully known to the accountants-tax technicians from the first moment.

The duty of all those involved in the process of submitting the declarations is to deal with any issues that arise in a timely manner, with seriousness and responsibility, with the aim of submitting the declarations on time, and not to create impressions to serve trade union purposes”.

Earlier today, speaking on SKAI radio, the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis she left spikes against tax experts wondering if the fact that the tax declarations are simpler this year and it is not necessarily necessary to resort to accountants and tax experts for their submission, is related to the announcement of the panhellenic association, adding that in previous years there were no such announcements
