The process of announcing an international tender for the reconstruction of the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki, which is expected to start in 2026 and last five years, begins.
The plan, after an agreement with the Municipality of Thessaloniki, according to ERT, envisages the conversion of 60% of the area into a Metropolitan Park with dense planting. The new exhibition center will be built around the Palais de Sport and is expected to be Europe’s most eco-friendly when completed.
The completion of the studies is expected in 2025 for the second half of 2026 to start the renovation works.
The project will require total investments of €300,000,000 with public participation exceeding 1/3 of the project budget.
At the corner of Angelaki and Egnatia, a hotel will be built with an underground parking lot of 1,300 parking spaces. At the same time, facilities that will strengthen the contemporary cultural identity of Thessaloniki will be highlighted, such as the MOMus Museum, the TIF History Museum and the Palais des Sports.
The public nature of TIF-HELEXPO is definitively guaranteed, as the company remains a 100% subsidiary of the Superfund.
