Keppel DC REIT and MYTILINEOS Energy & Metals have signed two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to supply energy to two of Keppel DC REIT’s facilities in Dublin, which will be generated from two solar farms in Ireland.

MYTILINEOS announced that the solar farms in question are located in Gorey, Wexford, an area that benefits from the highest solar radiation in Ireland, and Goresbridge, Kilkenny, and are expected to generate a total of 14.28 MW and, when completed, will generate approximately 13, 6 GWh of renewable electricity per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 6,250 tons of CO2 per year.

Gary Watson, Country Manager of Keppel DC REIT (Ireland), said: “As a recognized provider of Data Centers in Ireland, Keppel DC REIT is committed to achieving net zero emissions in its Irish operations by 2030, in line with its Action Plan country on climate and its commitment to the Climate Neutral Data Centers Pact. By strengthening our commitment to addressing climate change, we believe we can better support our customers’ sustainability goals.”

With these PPAs, 92% of the energy currently used at Keppel DC REIT’s two facilities in Dublin will be supplied by renewable sources in Ireland.

MYTILINEOS, through the PPAs, will cover approximately 11% of the total power requirements of the Data Centers in question. The solar parks will be completed in the summer of 2024. Both projects have been developed by MYTILINEOS’ M Renewables, a world-leading integrated developer with a significant track record of successful projects. M Renewables undertook the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of the solar parks.

Nikos Papapetrou, Executive Director M Renewables of MYTILINEOS, said of the agreement: “The signing of MYTILINEOS’ first PPA in Ireland strengthens the company’s presence in the local renewable energy market and creates significant growth opportunities. We are proud to partner with Keppel, an international provider of reliable Data Centers across Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions, recognizing the prominent need for ‘green’ solutions in a demanding energy market.”

MYTILINEOS has been active in Europe and the UK for 10 years and Ireland is a strategic country for the Company in the fields of solar energy, energy storage and hydrogen.

The total capacity of M Renewables’ mature and operational global portfolio, dynamically expanding across five continents, is now ~4.8 GW, while including a series of projects in early and mid-stage development, with a capacity of approximately ~5 .7 GW, MYTILINEOS’ global portfolio now exceeds 10 GW.

Matheson and Our New Energy were the advisors to MYTILINEOS on this transaction.
