The plan of the government for the shielding of our country from the energy crisis, which intensified dramatically after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, was presented by the Minister of Energy, Costas Skrekas.
He assured that the supply of natural gas in our country continues without disturbances and that the government is considering various scenarios.
In particular, he mentioned the following:
- There is a possibility for additional supply of LNG (liquefied natural gas). The capacity at the Revythousa facilities is at a high level, while yesterday a ship with 108 thousand cubic meters of LNG sailed.
- There is a possibility of increasing the natural gas that reaches our country from Azerbaijan through the TAP pipeline.
- In the lignite units of PPC, in addition to the daily mining activity, the availability of stocks in lignite, can cover a period of more than 30 days.
- The water reserves for the operation of the hydroelectric units are satisfactory.
- The 5 diesel power plants are ready, which have the possibility of running on diesel.
Mr. Skrekas assured that the support of the society during the energy crisis will continue and that it is an encouraging development that in the text of the conclusions of the Summit, there is a report for taking emergency measures at EU level, requested by the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
