It is particularly encouraging for the course of tourism this year the data for the first quarter of the yearin an indication of the good image that Greece has managed to cultivate in recent years, but also of the gradual lengthening of the tourist season.

According to the latest data from the Bank of Greece, between January and April arrivals in our country increased by 20% compared to the corresponding period in 2023, with the number of travelers reaching 3.9 million.

Even bigger jump was recorded in travel receiptswhich increased by 22% and reached 1.79 billion euros.

A driving force behind the positive developments was the attraction of visitors from major European markets and the United Stateswhich are traditionally “goals” for Greek businesses.

For example, the arrivals from Germany showed an increase of 28.3% compared to the first four months of last year, while the incoming ttravel from the USA was stimulated by more than 62%. Revenue from visitors from these two countries exceeded 440 million euros.

After the pandemic, Greek tourism has repeatedly set records. The government, for its part, has set as its goal the provision of quality services, in terms of sustainability and respect for the natural environment, and the extension of the tourist season through the promotion of winter destinations, alternative activities and the country’s cultural heritage.
