The large combination, discovered by AADE with cash register software that did not read the full amount of receipts
The detailed results of the “Paper Dragon” operation are presented today by the head of the AADE Giorgos Pitsilis after the submission of anonymous complaints, underlining the great importance that the Independent Authority attaches to the fight against tax evasion and tax avoidance.
It is a case of tax evasion by 287 enterprises of Chinese interests from the retail sector.
It was a difficult audit full of challenges, said Mr. Pitsilis, detailing the process of completing the audit, during the press conference.
As announced, the AADE discovered a large tax evasion ring with the assistance of the Greek police.
Under the code name business paper dragon 1 Greek and 2 Chinese nationals resident in Slovakia were identified who had supplied 287 retail businesses of Chinese interests throughout Greece with illegal software which erased the value of receipts transmitted to AADE when customers paid in cash.
As the commander of AADE, Giorgos Pitsilis, said, the consumer received a receipt with a value of 21 euros, but the illegal software transmitted transaction details of 2.1 euros.
Indicative of the magnitude of tax evasion is that only during last February, when a sample check was carried out, the value of the 220,000 receipts sent to AADE exceeds 3 million euros.
The investigation is ongoing and one Chinese man has already confessed.
