by

Published in the Government Gazette (Government Gazette B ‘956 / 02.03.2022) the Joint Ministerial Decision Labor and Social Affairs, Finance, Environment and Energy, Home Affairs, and Development and Investment preparation of a special program for the employment of resin workers in services of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, according to which the resin growers of Northern Evia (Municipalities of Istiaia-Edipsos and Mantoudi-Lake-Agia Anna) and Western Attica (Municipality of Megara) will be employed for seven years in the relevant Energy, through OAED.

The Deputy Minister in charge of the Prime Minister, Christos Triantopoulos, in a statement, stressed that the government, fulfilling its commitments made immediately after the extinguishing of the big fires last summer and acting intensively and in a coordinated manner, is implementing an expanded of fire-affected areas. A grid that, on the one hand, connects support with production and development, and on the other hand, has a long horizon that reaches fifteen years, creating sustainable conditions for resin growers to remain in their place and develop in it.

“An important component of this support network is the seven-year employment program of resin growers through OAED, whose relevant Joint Ministerial Decision was published on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, following the planned process of the ministries involved, but also in cooperation “with the competent forestry departments and the interested forest cooperatives”, said Mr. Triantopoulos.

According to him, during the previous period all the other components of the expanded support network of resin growers were implemented, which are:

The participation of resin growers and especially forest cooperatives in the initial projects for the clearing of burnt trees of the areas on both sides of the provincial and municipal road network, for which the forest cooperatives received extraordinary funding, both from the Green Fund and from individuals, including amounting to EUR 0.7 million.

• The priority participation of resin growers and especially the forest cooperatives of the area in the anti-corrosion and anti-flood works carried out in the area, which exceed 20 million euros.

• The additional financial support for the resin growers of the regions of North Evia (and Geraneia) for 2021 amounting to 3.7 million euros, following the financial support of 2.3 million euros for 2020.

It is therefore proceeding with the issuance of the relevant Joint Ministerial Decision and the seven-year employment program of resin growers, amounting to 63 million euros, which will concern 590 beneficiaries, according to the data provided by the forestry departments and forest cooperatives. In particular, the program will subsidize the employment of resin growers-members of cooperatives in the local forest services of the fire-affected areas, with the object of their work in the sustainable development and restoration of the forest, under the supervision and guidance of the competent forest services. The duration of the program, as noted from the first moment, is set at seven years and its structure will be based on six cycles in the period 2022-2024, so that the resin growers who will participate in projects and works in the forest in the next period (two to three years).

On the occasion of the publication of this Joint Ministerial Decision, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, responsible for State Aid and Rehabilitation from Natural Disasters, Christos Triantopoulos, underlined: “In a framework of close cooperation with the Deputy Minister of Environment, Energy and Energy. and the Commander of OAED, Mr. Spyros Protopsaltis, but also with all the competent ministers, as well as the service agents, the forest administrations and the forest cooperatives of the fire-affected areas, the issuance of the Joint Ministerial Decision for the seven-year employment program according to the original design, which has become known to everyone from the first moment.

This is a program of a total amount of 63 million euros for 590 beneficiaries of our fellow citizens, which will start in cycles – to cover all interested parties – and will last from 2022 to 2031.

This is a program that is far from what, at some point, the opposition had proposed and meets the expectations of resin growers.

Thus, the resin growers of Northern Evia, but also of the other regions, will have guaranteed employment for seven years, with a net salary of just over 800 euros – as, after all, the government had committed when it announced the targeted support package of the sector last year. autumn- and will work for the regeneration of the forest.

In fact, due to the structure of the program in circles, resin growers will be able to join it even after the completion of their work, in the context of the projects undertaken or will be undertaken by their forest cooperatives in the next period.

With the aim of strengthening the resin growers and keeping them in place, the government continues to implement the expanded support network, as it has presented from the first moment.

And this network of measures strengthens it, as it will do next season with the sensible and targeted strengthening of forest cooperatives through the resources of the Green Fund, in order to be able to cover a series of essential needs that have arisen “.

It is also noted that, according to the Joint Ministerial Decision, the initial, indicative, distribution of 63 million euros of the program for the period 2022-2031 is as follows: 2.4 million euros in 2022, 5.7 million euros in 2023, 6.8 million euros in 2024, 9 million euros in 2025, 9 million euros in 2026, 9 million euros in 2027, 9 million euros in 2028, 6.1 million euros in 2029, 3 , EUR 5 million in 2030 and EUR 2.4 million in 2031.

It is also pointed out that, as provided in these cases, the publication of the Joint Ministerial Decision will be followed by the submission of a request and the inclusion of the Ministry of Environment and Energy in the program, the publication of a public invitation and the submission of applications by beneficiaries.

Finally, the expanded resin grower support grid, following the seven-year employment program, will be completed with a targeted Leader program action, with a five-year timeframe, to financially support resin growers to develop their productive and entrepreneurial activities.
