A 6.3% decrease was noted in the number of unemployed for July compared to 2023, according to the statistics of DYPA.

In particular, 848,602 people are counted as unemployed in the register of the Public Employment Service (PYPA) in July 2024, recording a decrease of -56,842 people (-6.3%) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, July 2023 and an increase of 35,644 people (4.4%) compared to the previous month of June 2024.

According to the DYPA registered unemployment statistics, out of a total of 848,602 people, 453,801 people (53.5%) are registered in the DYPA register for a period equal to or more than 12 months and 394,801 people (46.5% %) are registered in the DYPA register for a period of less than 12 months.

Men are recorded in 266,697 people (31.4% rate) and women in 581,905 people (68.6% rate).

The 30-44 age group gathered the largest number of registered unemployed among the age categories, which amounted to 281,014 people (33.1% rate).

The educational level of secondary education, which also includes post-secondary education, gathered the largest number of registered unemployed among educational levels, which amounted to 378,188 people (44.6% rate).

Among the Regions of the country, the Region of Attica and the Region of Central Macedonia recorded the largest number of registered unemployed, which amounted to 304,013 people (percentage of 35.8%) and 169,015 persons (percentage of 19.9%) respectively.

The total number of subsidized unemployed people, in July 2024, (refers to the number of beneficiaries who were paid within the corresponding month), amounted to 139,124 people, of which 132,222 (percentage 95%) are general unemployed and other categories of subsidized unemployed and the 6,902 (percentage of 5%) are seasonal tourist occupations.

Specifically, the number of subsidized unemployed, in July 2024, reached 139,124 people, recording an increase of 11,989 people (9.4%) in relation to the corresponding month of the previous year July 2023 and an increase of 33,750 people (32%) in relation to the previous month of June 2024. Men amounted to 47,275 (percentage of 34%) and women to 91,849 (percentage of 66%) ).

Of the total number of subsidized unemployed, 106,886 (percentage 76.8%) are common, 1,986 (percentage 1.4%) are builders, 6,902 (percentage 5%) are seasonal workers in tourism professions, 1,105 (percentage 0.8%) are seasonal other (rural), 22,116 (15.9% rate) are teachers and 129 (0.1% rate) are other.
