Its President Republic of CyprusNikos Christodoulidis, assured yesterday that there is progress in relation to the discussions on her project electrical interconnection with Greece, Great Sea Interconnector (GSI), while he also noted the interest from other countries, such as the United Arab Emirates.

At the same time, he mentioned that on September 19 he will meet with the Greek Prime Minister in Athens to discuss the electrical interconnection project with Greece, the Great Sea Interconnector. “One of the main issues will be that of electrical interconnection. We are in daily contact. And yesterday and the day before yesterday for this issue”, said Mr. Christodoulidis.

“Our discussions are progressing positively, we are working on specific aspects. There is progress and we will make our final decisions based on one single factor, to serve the interests of the Cypriot people”, he stressed.

Stating that this is a big project that concerns future generations and that is of interest to the Government, he noted that the decisions will be both prudent and take into account all the facts, whatever some say about the delay in decision-making.

“We are discussing specific details, we are making progress, I want to repeat that, and there is interest from other countries as well. My trip to the United Arab Emirates yesterday was no coincidence either” where, as he said, “both issues of cooperation in the energy sector and the specific project were discussed”. (KYPE)
