The project covers the irrigation needs of 67,800 acres
Completion of the process of submission of binding offers for the project Irrigation network of P.E. Larisa – Orphanon P.E. Karditsa”, where will be implemented as a PPP projectincluded in the Water 2.0 program, announced the Minister of Rural Development Costas Tsiaras, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis and the Secretary General of Union Resources and Infrastructure Dimitris Papagiannidis.
The binding offers for the project, with a budget of €107,200,000 (plus VAT) in terms of net present value with parallel funding of €24,044,507.40 from the Recovery Fund, i.e. a total of €131,244,507.40, were submitted, through ESIDIS, by the economic operators: a) GEK TERNA S.A. and b) ASSOCIATION OF PERSONS MYTILINEOS S.A. – MEDITERRANEAN S.A.
It is the third consecutive PPP project to be auctioned. It concerns the implementation of all the required studies, the construction, financing, maintenance and operation of an Integrated System of the Hyperia-Orphan Irrigation Network, which will make use of the existing boreholes in operation, irrigating a total of about 67,800 hectares of arable land of the Polyneri farms adjacent to the Enipea River, Stavros, Katochori, Hellinikon, Vrysion & Superior of the Larissa Regional Unit, as well as Orphanon, Phyllos and Lefki of the Karditsa Regional Unit.
Project Technical Characteristics
The Project concerns the study, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a modern closed underground irrigation network with the aim of covering the irrigation needs of the area with an irrigated area of approximately 67,800 hectares.
The duration of the Partnership Agreement is twenty-five years including the construction time of the Project.
In summary, the scope of the Partnership Agreement concerns the implementation of eleven (11) autonomous irrigation networks which will include the existing boreholes, the transmission works (supply networks from the boreholes to the reservoirs), the reformation reservoirs, the pumping stations and the water distribution projects (primary and secondary network) up to the water intakes.
The first part of the Project, which includes the implementation of the five (5) autonomous irrigation networks that will be delivered complete and operational in a period of 16 to 18 months, while the entire project will be completed in a period of 30 months from the signing of the Project contract .
With all the above interventions under the responsibility of the General Secretariat of Union Resources and Infrastructure of the FSA, in collaboration with the PPP Unit of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, an improvement in the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and mitigation of the effects of climate change is achieved.
