A sum of money ranging between 3 and 4 million euros will be given to businesses in Magnesia that were affected last year by the bad weather Daniel and were excluded from the first phase of aid, announced today the Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, who visited Volos and met with businessmen and institutions of the area.

The Minister of Development, in the afternoon visited the Chamber of Magnesia and had a meeting with the administration and with organizations and professionals who developed their problems and it was announced that the specific package of financial aid will concern a program of the Ministry of Development which is going to start very soon .

The new financial support will be directed to a wide range of businesses, such as catering, tourism, manufacturing and many other sectors, which had suffered disasters from the bad weather Daniel in the wider area of Volos, the municipality of South Pelion and the municipality of Almyros ( with typical cases being the municipal districts of Pteleo and Amaliapoli).

All these areas such as Agria, Milies, Lyri, Amaliapoli and Pteleos, were excluded from the first phase of the program and with the new program the affected professionals will be supported.

As Takis Theodorikakos characteristically said, “this is a solution that was sought and must be implemented immediately and the program must be organized quickly”.

At noon, Mr. Theodorikakos, accompanied by Christos Triandopoulos, Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, as well as MP Christos Boukoros, visited the 1st BIPE Volos and the Management Body.

Among other things, after touring units in the area, he emphasized that “this is one of the largest industrial zones of our country, with 105 established companies, with thousands of workers, in an area of 2,800 acres.

As I have said many times, it is an absolute priority for the government to formulate and implement a new production model, which will be based on the even greater and stronger development of industry in all branches of Greek industry.

The Ministry of Development is implementing a program to upgrade the logistical infrastructure in the industrial parks throughout the country.

It is a program that concerns 20 industrial parks throughout the country, including the one in Volos, in which 1.7 million euros of projects are being carried out, from the Ministry of Development’s program with funding from the Recovery Fund.

We discussed with the representatives of established businesses, a series of issues that concern them. Our support to industry representatives, healthy entrepreneurship and industry workers is a given, because we are interested in seeing this sector flourish even more. I was impressed by the very serious lack of labor in this area as well. These are issues that we deal with together with the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Education”

Finally, Mr. Theodorikakos added that “attracting investments from both Greek and foreign businessmen is an absolute priority for the government“.
