The Recovery and Resilience Fund includes the project “Digital education and empowerment of the elderly and people with disabilities”, with a total public expenditure of 6,804. 866 euros, by decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis.

The project concerns familiarization and training programs for the elderly and people with disabilities in new technologies, mainly in relation to digital information, communication through digital applications, making electronic payments, the use of gov.gr digital applications, the use social media etc.

For the overall support of the educational process, educational content tailored to the needs of the specific population groups will be developed, using multimedia and interactive applications, which will be posted on the National Academy of Digital Skills. This material will remain open even after the end of the action, significantly strengthening the people of these population groups on a nationwide scale. Also, asynchronous educational material will be developed for the training of trainers and administrators of the Digital Empowerment Hubs.

The action concerning the digital education and empowerment of the elderly will be implemented in 120 Nodes for the Digital Empowerment of the Elderly in appropriate structures of the municipalities of the whole country (Friendship Clubs, KAPI, etc.). The corresponding action concerning the digital education and empowerment of people with disabilities will be implemented in 80 Nodes for the Digital Empowerment of People with Disabilities in appropriate structures throughout the country (day care and day care centers for people with disabilities, Branches of the Institute of the National Confederation of Disabled Persons, etc. .).

The project is part of the “Employment, Skills, Social Cohesion” pillar of the “Greece 2.0” National Plan. The funding body is the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, the implementing body is the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures S.A. with the Institute of the National Confederation of Persons with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses as a partner, which is the official educational and research body of the country’s disability movement.
