Mercado Livre reported this Monday (7th) that the data of about 300,000 of its users had been accessed, after detecting that part of its source code was subject to unauthorized access.

The company said in a statement that it found no evidence that its “infrastructure systems have been compromised or that user passwords, account balances, investments, financial or payment card information have been obtained.”

With around 140 million unique users, Mercado Livre is the largest e-commerce portal in Latin America, in addition to Itaú Unibanco, Banco do Brasil and Nubank, which have had problems with technology in recent weeks.

Last Thursday (3), Itaú customers reported a series of difficulties in accessing accounts on the bank’s channels and making payments via Pix. The instabilities were resolved on the same day.

According to the bank, the origin of the problem is related to a delay in the processing of bank data, which generated the need for reprocessing.

The following day, customers of Banco do Brasil and Nubank also reported problems with the institutions’ applications.

Internet banking operations and login to the app were the main complaints about Banco do Brasil, which said that a firmware update caused problems throughout the day and made it difficult to access its app.

“BB emphasizes that there will be no harm to its customers and has kept the other service channels available, respecting physical and digital coexistence”, added the bank.

Among Nubank customers, the account balance and transfers of values appeared as the main problems recorded.

“We regret the fluctuations identified by a portion of our customers in some services today (4). We inform you that operations are being gradually normalized and our systems are 100% safe. The visualization and availability of some functionalities were impacted . The integrity of all information is guaranteed,” said fintech.
