Mr. Theodorikakos pointed out that overall in recent years food inflation in the E.U. it was 19.5% compared to 15.5% in Greece
“Sustainable development, strengthening citizens’ disposable income and reducing social and regional inequalities are our main strategic goals” emphasized the Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, answering in the Parliament to a topical question of Sokratis Famellos about the cost of living.
Mr. Theodorikakos referred in detail to the measures taken by the government – its reinforcement Competition Commission with 50 scientific staff, the strengthening of DIMEA with 30 new staff for its work, the multiplication of fines for the profit margin and the prohibition of offers on products that have been overpriced, the cooperation with the regions, the upgrading of e-katanalotis and the ongoing sweep of 26 companies and 2,500 codes – and wondered if none of this makes sense to SYRIZA.
“You didn’t vote for anything I said. Do you even disagree with the multiplication of fines? The Minister of Development asked the SYRIZA MP and made it clear that it is not his intention to take back the price control measures taken by the government. Especially for Mr. Famellos’ report to IELKA in September, Mr. Theodorikakos pointed out that from May to August the inflation of food and basic living items was negative, but Mr. Famellos did not mention it.
“I am impressed that you found some time to deal with something that is of enormous interest among the civil and intrigues in SYRIZA” continued the Minister of Development and expressed the hope that the confrontation will end quickly. “Although I highly doubt your faction has a role as an official opposition in the future“, he characteristically said.
“I question your real interest. Lying and slander is your identity” continued the Minister of Development and referred to the values of patriotism, freedom and solidarity that ND serves. In this context, he pointed to the high growth rate achieved by the government, the reduction of unemployment, the abolition of the trade tax, the reduction of social security contributions and the increase of the minimum wage as characteristic examples of the policy of increasing the disposable income of citizens.
Commenting on the percentages mentioned by Mr. Famellos, Mr. Theodorikakos pointed out that overall in recent years food inflation in the EU was 19.5% compared to 15.5% in Greece and added that from 8.3% which was inflation food in January we are now on a downward trend.
