In his speech, he analyzed the positive progress and performance of the Greek economy in recent years. In particular, he referred to the goals, challenges and initiatives undertaken by the government to improve living standards, reduce unemployment, increase wages and reduce tax evasion.

Mr. Dimas presented data that prove the growth of the Greek economy, from the years of the crisis and capital controls, to the period of economic progress, records in investments and the reduction of public debt, and the recovery of confidence from the international markets.

He also quoted official figures with forecasts for a further and faster reduction in public debt, with a simultaneous increase in wages, employment, GDP and investment. He even noted that: “the Greece of 2024 is on all levels a better country than that of 2019. It is friendlier to investments, more digital, with more and better jobs, less unemployment and lower taxes.”

In addition, he referred to the position and role of Greece in a tense period for humanity and emphasized that “Greece’s relations with the USA are at the best level of all time”.

He also referred to the strengthening of the ties of the Greek diaspora and the Diaspora with our homeland, stressing that for the current government it is a strategic priority and we did the obvious thing by establishing the postal vote.

Finally, as part of his visit to New York, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance held a series of meetings with academic, scientific and business/investment bodies of

USA, but also with Greek expatriates and gave interviews to mass media of the Greek diaspora.
