Changes to the conditions for preferential benefits and unemployment benefit affect 2 million beneficiaries
The map of welfare benefits as well as the unemployment benefit is changing radically from the new year, which concern 2 million beneficiaries.
New criteria, such as deposits, immovable and movable property, are established for receiving housing, child and Minimum Guaranteed Income benefits.
At the same time, according to the NEWS, a new model is being established in the unemployment benefit, piloting 10,000 beneficiaries before the end of the year. The amount of the allowance will be linked to the salary but also to the working and insurance life of the unemployed person.
Child benefit
The second and third income scales of the child allowance are combined into one, increasing the allowance of the third scale from 28 euros per child at 45 euros and 90 euros for the third child and subsequent ones.
Unemployment benefit
The amount of the allowance will be graduated and will be linked to the years of insurance and employment and the amount of the salary of the recently unemployed person.
A possible scenario foresees that in the first months of unemployment the benefit will amount to 70% of the minimum wage.
The allowance can reach up to 1,200 euros for unemployed people with more than four years in the labor market.
Those with fewer years will receive the lower amount of 509 euros.
There will also be additional benefits for certain groups of unemployed people, such as Christmas and Easter gifts, allowances per protected member and allowances for single parents.
Minimum Guaranteed Income
With the new year, the Minimum Guaranteed Income (MGI) increases by 16%, from 216 euros and 54 euros for each child to 250 euros and 75 euros respectively, while the income limits also increase accordingly.
However, targeted immovable, movable property and deposit criteria will be applied.
For example, the declared income cannot exceed 5,832 euros, regardless of the number of household members.
Housing allowance
It increases from 70 euros to 125 euros and 75 euros, depending on the income scale, with an additional increase of 30% for each child.
Today, the allowance is received by those with a total income that does not exceed 7,000 euros for a one-person household, increased by 3,500 euros for each additional member. In a single-parent family, an additional 7,000 euros is set for the first minor member, while in households with unprotected children, an additional 7,000 euros is added for each unprotected child.
The total income cannot exceed 21,000 euros per year, regardless of the composition of the household.
