At average levels in the 9th month of this year, the general index showed an increase of 6.2% compared to the corresponding index for the period January-September 2023.
Industrial production in the country increased by 2.5% in September this year, while especially the production of manufacturing industries increased by 5.2%.
As announced by ELSTAT, the general index of industrial production showed an increase of 2.5% in September 2024 compared to the corresponding index of September 2023, against an increase of 1.8% that occurred during the corresponding comparison in 2023 with 2022.
This development came from the following changes in the indicators of individual industry sectors:
From the increase:
- By 9.6% of the mines-quarries index.
- By 5.2% of the manufacturing index. This was mainly contributed by increases in printing and reproduction of pre-recorded media (23.7%), leather industry (23.2%), distillery (14.8%), base metal production (14.1%) and in the production of other non-metallic mineral products (13.6%).
- By 4.4% of the water supply index.
From the reduction:
- By 8.9% of the electricity supply index.

While, the seasonally adjusted general index showed a decrease of 2.1% in September 2024 compared to the corresponding index in August 2024.
