Use of the 0303 prefix will allow blocking of all telemarketing calls

by

The implementation of the 0303 code as a prefix for the numbers that make telemarketing calls will allow the consumer to block all calls of this type at once.

According to Vinícius Caram, Superintendent of Granting and Resources to Provision of Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency), the rule, which comes to allow easy identification of calls made by telemarketing companies, will also allow the request for blocking in a practical way.

“It will be a consumer option, he can do it for those applications that have the option to block a certain prefix or communicate to his operator that he doesn’t want to receive any more calls with numbers that start with 0303”, says Caram.

The superintendent also explains that the rule that came into force on Thursday (10) makes each company to be identified by just a starting number 0303, even if it has hundreds of telephone resources or extensions. Thus, when requesting the blocking of that phone, all company extensions will be blocked.

“Today you have telemarketing companies that have thousands of numbering resources. They call you to sell a product, you refuse and block it. Then they call from another number and you end up having to block 999 numbers from the same company. , is to put an end to this situation, to empower the consumer so that he can decide from whom he wants to receive calls, who he wants to block or even if he wants to make a general block”, says Caram.

At this first moment, the rule only applies to calls made from mobile numbers, but it will also be mandatory for landline numbers from June 10th.

Anatel says that at least 80 companies are already prepared for the change and will put the new number into use starting this Friday (11).

The Agency asks that telemarketing companies make an effort to adapt to the new rule and issues an alert.

“As of June 10, anyone who does not have their calls identified with the prefix will be subject to administrative proceedings and even fines”, says Gustavo Borges, Superintendent of control of obligations at Anatel.

The new rule applies to all companies that practice the so-called “active telemarketing”, that is, that carry out the offer of products or services through calls or telephone messages. However, companies requesting donations and charging will not have to use the code.
