Strengthens its presence in our country airBalticor low cost airline which is 97.97% controlled by the State of Latvia, increasing its weekly destination network from 13 to 16 from next year.

The company, for the first time, will connect the Athens and Riga almost all year roundthat is from March 4 until January 11, with three flights per week. The two new additions to the low-cost airline’s schedule concern the connection, from April 28 to October 25, of Vilnius to Rhodes with two flights a week, as well as the weekly flight from Riga to Mykonos from June 5 to August 28. The company will also fly from Riga to Rhodes (May 4 – October 19), Corfu (April 29 – September 6), Thessaloniki (May 6 – October 21) and Heraklion (May 3 – October 25).

“airBaltic is a very close partner of ours. It has transported more than 300,000 passengers to Athens from 2007 to October 2024. During the first ten months of this year, compared to the corresponding period of 2023, it increased passenger traffic even more, by 14%, to 43,600”, noted the director Communication and Marketing of the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport, Ioanna Papadopoulou, pointing out that it has also contributed to the increase in passenger traffic in the two months of March – April, which corresponds to the off-peak tourist season.

The airline is also improving the connectivity of Athens with the Baltic States and the Nordic countries by connecting, via Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen and other cities.

airBaltic, according to the data presented by the Country Manager Greece TAL Aviation Group, of the exclusive representative of AirBaltic in Greece, Maria Mastoraki, in the first half of 2024 the carrier transported 2.2 million travelers, registering an increase of 11.1% compared to the corresponding period of 2023.

Today, airBaltic flies to more than 100 destinations from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere and Gran Canaria, offering routes to Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and the Caucasus region.

At the same time, it maintains 23 agreements for common code flights (code-share and interline) with other airlines, offering a total of access to more than 300 destinations from its five bases.
