ATTIKA MULTISTORES speaks of an “unfair” fine in its announcement, commenting on today’s announcement of the Ministry of Development for imposing an administrative fine on the company for misleading discounts on Black Friday.

The company notes, however, that “the check on the Attica online store took place in July 2024” and that “it was announced with a delay of four months and in fact on the day of Black Friday”.

The company also notes that the audit “concerns only one specific cosmetic product code and its availability at the price of €34.93 with a reference price of €49.90 instead of the lowest price of the previous last 30 days (i.e. €32.97 with a reference price of €47.10).

Also, among other things, he notes that “in order to protect the reputation of our company, its 2,200 employees, as well as our 300 partners, we will take all the legal means of protection given to us by Greek legislation”.

The announcement of ATTIKA MULTISTORES in detail:

Following today’s announcement by the Ministry of Development regarding the imposition of an administrative fine on our company for violating the provisions of Law. 2251/94 we would like to inform you that:

The check on the attica online store took place in July 2024

It was announced with a delay of 4 months and even on the day of Black Friday

It concerns only one specific cosmetic product code and its availability at the price of €34.93 with a reference price of €49.90 instead of the lowest price of the previous last 30 days (i.e. €32.97 with a reference price of €47.10) .

While we acknowledge that the fine imposed is linked to a previous infringement, involving sales of approximately €300, we emphasize that a fine of €400,000 for zero product sales is unfair as:

no harm has occurred to a consumer because no sale was made at the “wrong” price because the correct sale price was entered in the accounting system

refers to a single code among the 30,000 codes hosted in the digital store

due to a technical error

it was immediately detected and fixed the same day

we moved immediately to eliminate the possibility of similar incidents in the future, investing in an automated control software, with a total value of €30,000, which does not allow the revaluation of a product that has gone on sale.

For Attica Department Stores, a company with a long-standing presence in Greece, faithful adherence to the applicable legal framework and respect for customers remain non-negotiable principles.

In order to protect the reputation of our company, its 2,200 employees, as well as our 300 partners, we will take all the legal means of protection provided by Greek legislation.
