“In 2025, we announce four new regimes of the development law, including flagship investments and these include the circular economy and the shipbuilding industry”.

This was noted by the Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakosspeaking at the conference of the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce “35th Greek Economic Summit” while adding:

“One of the 4-5 largest naval forces in the world cannot have a strong shipbuilding industry. I also want to highlight the work that is being done in our shipyards where thousands of workers work and have regained life. Cooperation with the United States is also strong there, as ONEX has been loaned a very large amount by the Development Bank of the USA. We are back on the shipbuilding map.”

He said that the new production model should not be faced by the other political forces in terms of petty party confrontation and that it is a national necessity and a condition for the safety and well-being of our country.

He touched on two key issues: The first concerns the financing of small and medium-sized enterprises, referring to tax incentives for business mergers and the DEFLI program that offers strong access to financing. The second is about supporting those who are struggling in their daily lives, with new ideas about a big issue such as high rents.

Mr. Theodorikakos emphasized that the most social policy for sustainable development is the one that creates new jobs and we are interested in businesses making profits and reinvesting them. The aim is to further reduce unemployment, which has fallen from 17.5% to 9.3%. Finally, regarding the circular economy, he said that it is a key feature of the green transition, both for reasons that are friendly to the environment and for reducing the cost of business activities. “We don’t speak words, we do actions,” he concluded.

“The biggest issue is demographic and with our policies we must support the next generations in every way in order to keep our country standing”, the minister emphasized in his initial statement and continued that “we are changing the productive model of our country in order to we are doing much better. This is what society and the next generation need.”

He emphasized that it is a strategic choice for Greece to cooperate in all sectors with the United States, especially in the area of investments and businesses, while in the context of the event, discussing with Panagiotis Mourgos of the TECHAN Group about the new production model and the circular economy in Greece. he recalled that during the period when he was the political head of the Ministry of the Interior, he made a series of necessary interventions to facilitate the investment of TEHAN.

Mr. Theodorikakos was mentioned. still, in the more than ten-year crisis in our country and that no one should forget it, but “in the last 5.5 years we have fully recovered our credibility, we have reduced taxes and insurance contributions, Greece is once again a pro-investment destination and the country is safe, with a stable Government in a period of major geopolitical crises. This is the reason why we attract investment.”

The Minister of Development stressed that the trade balance deficit that remains at 14% of GDP despite the increase in our exports and should not continue. That is why it is necessary, as he pointed out, to strengthen our exports, the industry, the competitiveness of our economy, with innovative and quality products, directing research in this direction and increasing its footprint in the country’s GDP.
