A unified natural gas distribution tariff for the country’s domestic consumers has been implemented since December 1, as announced today, at a press conference, by the management of enaon, a subsidiary of Italgas, which manages the networks in most regions of the country.

Under the previous regime, different tariffs applied per distribution area. The consolidation leads to reductions in some areas and increases in others: In Attica – according to the clarifications provided by the company – a reduction of around 10 euros per year is expected for an average consumer, in Thessaloniki an increase of 35 euros per year, in Thessaly an increase of 10 euros and in Eastern Macedonia-Thrace a reduction of 80 euros.

It is clarified that the fluctuations concern only the charge for the distribution network (and not the entire bill that includes the cost of natural gas, transmission networks, taxes, etc.) in the 9 Regions where enaon operates (Attica, Central Macedonia, Thessaly, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Central Greece, Western Macedonia, Western Greece, Epirus and Peloponnese).

For industrial consumers the unification of fees will take place gradually and not immediately, as the differences in fees from region to region are greater (up to six times).

The company’s management presented the update of the investment plan for the period up to 2030, which includes investments amounting to 1 billion. euros for the expansion of the networks, the introduction of smart consumption meters and the digitization of the network.

Natural gas will be extended to 18 areas, including Patras, Ioannina, Kastoria, Florina, Grevena and Orestiada, resulting in an increase in the number of consumers served by the company, from 615,000 to 920,000.
