The acceptance of the offer of the Fraport-Delta-Pileas consortium for the concession of the Kalamata airport was announced by the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis, speaking today at the 2nd Growth Fund Summit organized by the Hyperfund.
In particular, as announced by the Superfund, following the evaluation, the consortium FRAPORT AG-DELTA AIRPORT INVESTMENTS SA-PILEAS SA, consisting of the following companies, was declared the preferred investor:
a) The German company with the name “FRAPORT AG” (participation rate in the joint venture 51%),
b) The domestic company with the name “DELTA AIRPORT INVESTMENTS AE” (participation rate in the joint venture 24.5%), a company of the Kopelouzos Group.
c) The domestic company with the name “PILEAS SA” (participation rate in the joint venture 24.5%), a company of the Konstantakopoulos Group.
The submitted financial offer amounts to a total of 45.2 million. euros in constant prices 2025. The largest part of the price (45 million euros) is paid at the beginning of the concession period, confirming the investor’s interest and confidence in the project’s prospects, while in this way the funds will be immediately available for the purposes of the Growthfund.
The contracting consortium, in accordance with its business strategy, which it submitted as part of its bid, commits to making investments of 28.3 million. euros during the first three years of the concession contract, which include, among others:
– Renovation & modernization projects of existing facilities.
– Expansion and modernization of the airport and construction of a new aircraft parking area on the expropriated part of approximately 50 acres.
– IT Infrastructure.
– Retail (Duty Free) and catering (F&B) shops.
Through the announcement of this joint venture, Growthfund utilizes the extensive experience of Fraport AG and the Kopelouzos group in the management and development of airports. In addition, the Konstantakopoulos group’s experience in tourism will support the further improvement of the passenger experience. This combined expertise will ensure the development of an effective commercial strategy for Kalamata International Airport.
In addition to the above concession fee (€45.2 million), the Growthfund is estimated to receive additional significant dividends arising from the 10% of the concessionaire’s share capital that the initial shareholders are required to transfer without consideration to the grantor (Growthfund).
The total estimated income for the Growthfund (concession fee and dividends) over the entire 40-year concession period amounts to 71.2 million. euros at nominal prices.
It is recalled that the main objective of Growthfund, through the concession of Kalamata airport, is the implementation of a series of investments included in an integrated business plan for the expansion and upgrading of the airport’s infrastructure and ensuring a combination of high quality operation and maintenance services.
