INSS resumes scheduling in-person retirement service

Starting this Monday (14), INSS (National Social Security Institute) policyholders will be able to schedule service to request retirement, pension and other benefits in person at the institute’s agencies.

The return of services at the posts is part of the plan to reopen Pension agencies, closed to the public since March 2020, the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil.

The operation resumed in September of the same year, but in a limited way, only for some services, and it remains so until today.

The insured must schedule the request through the application or website Meu INSS or by telephone, at Central 135. The novelty is that all services that today can be done over the internet or by phone can also be carried out in person.

Face-to-face calls should resume in April, according to appointments. The reopening will be staggered, that is, it will not occur in all branches at the same time. According to the institute, the public will be received according to the capacity of each agency, since it is necessary that the place is adapted according to health standards to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The rules for in-person functioning are in ordinance 982, published in the Official Gazette of March 2. Before, only a few calls were released at the agencies. Now, in addition to the normal schedule, spontaneous service is back in effect.

To be attended at an agency without an appointment, however, the citizen must present an identification document with photo, for those who are over 16 years old. In the case of insured persons under the age of 16, the birth certificate will do.

Anyone who only has the electronic document, such as RG or CNH, can present it. The ordinance informs that it has the same validity as a physical document. Legal representatives and attorneys-in-fact must also be identified.

The face-to-face service will resume the old molds and there will be screening for access to the Social Security agency. In addition, passwords will be distributed. Priority care for the elderly must be respected, ensuring the right to special priority for those over 80 years of age.

The citizen who has scheduled service will also need to generate a password on the scheduled day. There will be a maximum tolerance of 15 minutes of delay for the issuance of a ticket for scheduled services, respecting the opening hours of the agencies. The deadline may be longer, depending on the decision of the site manager.

In cases where the service cannot be performed due to momentary unavailability at the location, the absence of a professional, the unavailability of systems or any other reason whose cause is the responsibility of the INSS, the appointments will be rescheduled.

Branches were completely closed for six months

Social Security agencies were closed at the end of March 2020, with the advance of the coronavirus pandemic in the country. All services were interrupted, including the medical expertise, which started to be done indirectly, with the presentation of documents by My INSS for those who needed illness assistance.

In October 2020, face-to-face service returned to the branches, but only for some services, such as medical expertise and the delivery of complementary documents for retirement, in the system called compliance with requirements, and with reduced hours because of the severity of the pandemic. .

During the period of operation with reduced hours, the INSS service only occurs from 7 am to 1 pm, and only by appointment. In addition, only some services are included in the face-to-face service, such as medical expertise, compliance with requirements, social assessment to have the BPC (Continued Provision Benefit), presentation of defense, proof of life in cases where it is not possible to resolve the situation in the bank and for copying medical reports.

What can I do with My INSS?

The INSS offers, digitally and remotely, more than 90 assistance services to the insured. Among them are requests for retirement and pension, scheduling of expertise for sick pay and other benefits, in addition to the release of various documents, such as income tax report and retirement extract.

It is also possible to be answered by telephone, at Central 135. This service takes place from Monday to Saturday, from 7 am to 10 pm. To obtain the services, it is necessary to inform the beneficiary’s CPF. Retirees must provide their benefit number. When answering the telephone, it is necessary to write down the protocol that is generated.

In the case of those who are going to use the social security services through Meu INSS, it is necessary to generate an access password. The registration is done through the internet or cell phone, with the insured person’s CPF number. You will need to answer some questions.

Anyone who already has a password for the gov.br system can use Meu INSS informing this data. Among the most searched services on the social security portal are the benefit payment statement, the consigned loan statement and Cnis, which is the statement of contribution of workers with their entire working and contributory life.

In Meu INSS it is also possible to simulate the value of a future retirement and request the payment of benefit not received, when the citizen did not withdraw the amounts for some reason and the money returned to the Social Security coffers.
