The new real estate re-leasing agency for over-indebted borrowers is being launched immediately by the government, as stated by the Minister of Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis. The minister, speaking to ERT, also said that the government will proceed with a legislative initiative to deal with the housing problem and also the issue of high commissions imposed by banks in daily transactions.

As he characteristically said: “there is the big issue for us of procurement (of banks) on which the government will stand as it will also stand in the mortgage». Asked if a law will be needed for the measures being launched, he answered “yes”.

The minister announced the universal implementation of IRIS by 2025;. “We want to make it mandatory from next year for everyone and for businesses, for department stores, for everyone, because it is convenient for all sides” underlined.
