Travel receipts registered a 5.5% increase in the ten months of January – October 2024 and amounted to 20.935 billion euro. According to the Bank of Greece, this development is due to the increase in collections from residents of the EU-27 countries by 7.7% to 11.675 billion. euros and receipts from residents of other countries by 0.3% to 8.244 billion. euro.

In more detail, receipts from residents of the euro zone countries amounted to 9.16 billion. euros, increased by 4.1%, while increased by 23.5% and receipts from residents of the EU-27 countries outside the euro zone, which amounted to 2.515 billion. euro.

Receipts from Germany rose 3.9% to 3.61 billion. euro, while French receipts down 10.0% to 1.26 billion euro. Receipts from Italy increased by 15.7%, reaching 1.204 billion. euro. From the rest of the countries, receipts from the United Kingdom showed a decrease of 1.3%, which amounted to 3.215 billion. euros, while receipts from the USA increased by 10.1% to 1.416 billion. euro. As regards October 2024, travel receipts increased by 19.7% compared to the corresponding month of 2023. More specifically, a 14.2% increase was recorded by receipts from residents of the EU-27 countries, which amounted to 1.073 billion. euros, compared to 939.5 million euros in the corresponding month of 2023, while receipts from residents of other countries increased by 28.4% (October 2024: 883.2 million euros, October 2023: 688.0 million euros). The rise in receipts from the EU-27 countries was the result of an increase in both receipts from residents of the euro area countries by 15.9% (October 2024: €940.3 million, October 2023: €811.1 million). euros) as well as receipts from residents of the EU-27 countries outside the euro area by 3.5%, which were formed to 133.0 million euros, compared to 128.4 million euros in the corresponding month of 2023. Over 33 million travelers in our country during the ten months

Inbound travel traffic in the ten-month period registered an increase of 9.2% and amounted to 33.788 million. travelers, against 30.934 million travelers in the corresponding period of 2023. In particular, travel traffic through airports increased by 9.9% and that through road border stations by 8.5%. During the reviewed period, travel traffic from the EU-27 countries amounted to 20,730 million. travelers, showing an increase of 10.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2023, while travel traffic from other countries increased by 7.0% to 13.058 million. travelers. Travel traffic from euro area countries increased by 11.9%, as did travel traffic from non-euro area EU-27 countries by 8.3%. In particular, travel traffic from Germany showed an increase of 14.9% and amounted to 5.219 million. travelers, while travel traffic from France increased by 7.3% and amounted to 1.912 million. travelers. Travel traffic from Italy was also up by 10.3%, reaching 1.94 million. travelers. For October, inbound travel traffic amounted to 3.414 million travelers, increased by 8.6% compared to the corresponding month of 2023. In particular, travel traffic through airports increased by 9.5% compared to October 2023 and that through road border stations by 4.5%. The rise in inbound travel came from an increase in travel from both EU 27 countries by 11.8% and from other countries by 4.4%. In more detail, the travel traffic from the countries of the euro zone amounted to 1.58 million. travelers, increased by 13.3%, while the travel traffic from the EU-27 countries outside the euro zone increased by 6.5%, which amounted to 413.8 thousand. travelers. Travel balance

In the period January-October 2024, the travel balance showed a surplus of 18.66 billion. euros, against a surplus of 17.83 billion euros in the corresponding period of 2023. An increase of 1.095 billion Euros or 5.5% were presented by travel receipts, which amounted to 20.93 billion. euros, while an increase of 264.7 million euros or 13.2% was also observed in travel payments, which amounted to 2.27 billion. euro. The increase in travel receipts is attributed to a 9.2% rise in inbound travel traffic as average spend per trip fell 4.3%. Net receipts from the provision of travel services offset 63.8% of the deficit in the goods balance and contributed 85.2% to total net receipts from services.

According to the provisional data, the travel balance in October 2024 showed a surplus of 1.94 billion. euros, against a surplus of 1.64 billion euros in the corresponding month of 2023. In particular, travel receipts recorded an increase of 19.7% in October 2024, which amounted to 2.18 billion. euros, compared to 1.82 billion euros in the corresponding month of 2023, while a 29.2% increase was also observed in travel payments (October 2024: 234.8 million euros, October 2023: 181.8 million euros). The increase in travel receipts is mainly due to the increase in incoming travel traffic by 8.6%, but also by the average expenditure per trip by 10.7%. Net receipts from the provision of travel services offset 59.8% of the deficit in the goods balance and contributed 83.8% to total net receipts from services.
