With gains of 1.14%, the stock market closed the week ending, with the market exceeding the levels of 1,500 points and recording new 14-year highs on Thursday, and with the upward movement of the first sessions of 2025 “solving” the ” “gordian link” of long-term accumulation.

According to most analysts, the Greek Stock Exchange has the conditions to record a 5th consecutive upward year, based on the narrative of the continuation of GDP growth, the improvement of the critical indicators monitored by the International Houses, looking forward to a further upgrade by the Rating Houses.

At the center of investment interest this week were banking stocks, with the banking index recording weekly gains of over 3%.

Greek banks will continue to grow higher than their European peers in 2025, Bank of America estimates, as strong loan growth is the key differentiator and a “bright spot” in Europe.

With the sector’s sensitivity to interest rates discounted by the market and dividend yields among the best in the EEMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, the investment house gives a buy recommendation for Eurobank, Piraeus and Alpha Bank and even includes Eurobank in the banking top picks.

The target price for Eurobank is set at 3.1 euros (closing 2.3430 euros), for Piraeus at 5.3 euros (closing 4.19 euros) and for Alpha at 2.06 euros (closing 1.7180 euro)

The General Price Index closed the week at 1,503.73 points, compared to 1,486.83 points the previous week, marking a weekly increase of 1.14%, while since the beginning of the year it has recorded gains of 2.32%.

The FTSE/ASE 25 large-cap index closed the week up 1.19% and is up 2.58% since the start of 2025.

The FTSE MID mid-cap index closed up 1.13% for the week, up 3.75% year-to-date.

The banking index closed the week with a rise of 3.44%, while since the beginning of 2025 it has gained 5.78%.

The total value of transactions in this week’s sessions was 609.454 million. euros, while the average daily transaction value was 152.364 million. euro.

The total market capitalization for the week by 1.253 billion. euros and amounted to 105.826 billion euros, while since the beginning of the year it has increased by 2.681 billion. euro.
