According to temporary oil consumption data in Greece for the year 2023 and the final data for the year 2022 announced by ELSTATthere is a 3.3% decrease in total petroleum consumption for the year 2023 compared to the year 2022, with the corresponding quantities amounting to 6,837,722 metric tones for the year 2023 and 7,071,820 metric tonnes for the year 2022.
In particular, there is an increase in the annual consumption of petrol Super Unleaded 98/100 by 16.8%, of the low sulfur fuel by 2.7%, of oil 2.1%of traffic, 2%gas and unleaded gasoline by 1.9%. On the contrary, a decrease in annual consumption is observed in heating oil by 32.9% and in the high sulfur fuel by 13.6%.
In the year 2023, the regions of the most consumption are Attica and Central Macedonia, followed by the Regions of Thessaly, Western Greece, Central Greece, Peloponnese, Crete, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Epirus, South Aegean. The lower consumption is observed in the regions of the Ionian Islands and the Northern Aegean.
