President of EVEA: The measures announced by the government in the right direction

by

The measures announced by the government for the support of the citizens against the accuracy is in the right direction, said the president of EVEA Mr. Giannis Bratakos.

He noted that the measures were “socially just and targeted to provide relief to those most in difficulty” and at the same time “do not undermine” the country’s parallel effort to restore fiscal balance and invest “.

Mr. Bratakos’ statement is as follows:

“The measures announced by the government to support vulnerable households, small and medium-sized enterprises, the self-employed and farmers against the energy crisis and the wave of precision, are in the right direction. They are socially just and targeted measures to provide relief to those who have more difficulty.

At the same time, however, they do not undermine the country’s parallel effort to restore fiscal equilibrium and gain an investment level, which is essential if we are to have sustainable lending rates, both for the public and for businesses and citizens.

Fiscal responsibility is a critical issue today, at a time when markets are in turmoil and the cost of money is expected to rise internationally.

These measures send the message that Greece is not going to repeat the mistakes of the recent past and lead again to a budget deadlock, memoranda and recession.

Of course, the government’s efforts should not stop here. Greece must demand more decisive and coordinated action by the European Union, to limit the effects of the energy crisis, but also to tackle international speculation on energy prices. It must demand the implementation of major interconnection projects for energy transmission networks in the wider region. It must accelerate the transition to green energy, which is the cheapest and most environmentally friendly form of energy.

“In order to achieve the sustainable and socially just development we want, the country needs more reforms and less populism.”
