On an experimental basis, the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) presented this Thursday (17) the results of the 2022 National Demographic Census Test.
Produced between November and February, the test found a population of almost 111,200 people in 27 points in the 26 states and the Federal District. The list includes nine municipalities, in addition to districts, neighborhoods and localities (see the complete list below).
The purpose of the test was to prepare the institute’s teams and systems for the start of collecting Census information. The start of this stage is scheduled for August 1st.
Until then, the IBGE intends to finalize adjustments in the area of systems, in addition to ending the competition that provides for the hiring of more than 200,000 temporary workers for the Census operations.
As expected by the institute, the test released this Thursday showed that most of the census population is made up of women: 51.7% of the total (57,500). Men account for the share of 48.3% (53.7 thousand).
To produce the test, the IBGE visited 59,500 addresses, including residential and non-residential points. Of this number, 39,500 had residents. The average number of inhabitants per household was 2.9.
“We look for places with different characteristics to do the test”, said Luciano Duarte, technical coordinator of the Demographic Census.
“We are finishing the processes [para a coleta em agosto]”, he added.
The points visited in the test will be re-censed in August. According to Duarte, there is “security” that the operations will be ready until the beginning of the Census collection.
According to data released this Thursday, the neighborhood of Amaralina, in Salvador (BA), has the highest percentage of women among the places analyzed in the preparatory stage. The female population was estimated at 1,789 people in the neighborhood of the capital of Bahia, equivalent to 56.3% of the total population (3,180).
The test site with the highest percentage of men is the district of Sucuri, in Cuiabá (MT). The male population (818) corresponded to 54.5% of the total population (1,501).
The preparatory stage of the Census also brought estimates about the elderly population, aged 60 years and over. This age group reached 18.6 thousand people in the places surveyed, 16.7% of the total number (111.2 thousand).
The neighborhood of Amaralina, in Salvador, also registered the highest percentage of elderly people: 26%. The local population aged 60 and over was estimated at 813 people.
Among the nine municipalities fully evaluated in the test, two had a low population compared to the 2010 Census. In Engenheiro Paulo de Frontin (RJ), there was a reduction from 13,200 to 12,300 inhabitants. In Jardim Olinda (PR), the number dropped from 1,409 to 1,391.
As the test is experimental, the IBGE recommends only comparisons of data from entire municipalities, in which the institute ensures that the integrity of the evaluated territories was maintained.
Contest
In order to collect the Census in August, the IBGE expects to fill 206,900 temporary jobs. The opportunities, open in competition, are for census takers and census agents.
The exam date is scheduled for April 10. The final result should be announced on May 20.
The Census is considered the most detailed work on the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the country. The survey is usually done every 10 years.
Initially, the survey was scheduled for 2020, but it was not carried out due to the coronavirus pandemic, which caused restrictions on the movement of people at the time.
In 2021, what ended up making the study unfeasible again was the cut of resources destined for research. The budget for 2022 was released after the Federal Supreme Court (STF) was triggered.
In practice, the data collected by the Census work as a basis for a series of public policies and investment decisions by companies.
The information guides, for example, the transfers of the FPM (Fund of Participation of the Municipalities), source of resources for the city halls.
