Panel SA: Pharmacies register another drop in the sale of masks

by

The end of mandatory use of masks in some cities and states has caused a further drop in demand for the product in pharmacies in recent weeks.

In Raia Drogasil units, the retreat was 10% in the range from March 7th to 13th in relation to the previous week.

According to the network, the movement has been taking place since the second week of February and is linked to the cooling of the pandemic.

Panvel has also seen demand gradually decline. On Friday (11), sales of the product had fallen 5% in the weekly comparison. Last Monday (14), the fall was 9%.

Compared to February, the difference is even greater. In the pharmacies of the Pague Menos chain, the drop in sales of masks was almost 21% between March 7 and 13 compared to the same period of the previous month.

Last Wednesday (9), the use of a mask was no longer mandatory in open spaces in the state of São Paulo. The city of Rio de Janeiro has also relaxed the measure, including in closed places. The rules have also changed in the Federal District.
