OR Turkey will enter the first loads gas from Turkmenistan from March 1, according to Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.

According to Bloomberg agency, the two countries have reached an agreement that will “enhance the security of our country and our region with natural gas, and will also boost strategic cooperation between the two countries,” Bayraktar said via Platform X , without giving details of the quantities.

The launch of the supply comes after the preliminary agreement last year between the two countries. Turkey, which has experienced increased domestic demand for gas last year, imports more than one -third of its needs from Russia.

Natural gas will be transferred to Turkey through Iran, which has already entered into exchange agreements with Iraq and Azerbaijan. These agreements allow Iran to take Turkmenistan’s supply to the border and then send the corresponding volume of his own production to these buyers.

Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, chairman of the Turkmenistan People’s Council, discussed gas supplies to Turkey with Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, the state -run news agency Turkmenistan Today.

According to Bayraktar, the agreement was signed between the state -owned Turkish company Boru Hatlari Ile Petrol Tasima AS, or Botas, and the state producer of Turkmenistan Turkmengaz.
