Cyclone was formed yesterday in the Pacific Ocean off the offspring of the west coast Mexicowhich is expected to cause heavy rains, but without reaching over the ground, according to the American Center for Early Warning Cyclones and Hurricanes (NHC).
At midnight (Greek time), the cyclone was 470 kilometers southwest of Cavo Couple, in the state of Halisko, with winds of 120 kilometers per hour. Its course is projected to continue along the coastline.
The Cyclone Priscilla, currently Category 1 in the five-year-old Safir-Simson category, “is expected to be strengthened in the coming days and is projected to become a 2-week cyclone in the week,” the NHC explained in a newsletter.
There have already been heavy rainfall on the coasts of Michoacan and Guerrero states and less powerful in those of the states of Kolim and Halisko.
The NHC warned against “sudden floods, especially in areas with higher altitude”.
Mexico, both on its west and east coasts, faces a period of cyclones and hurricanes every year, usually between May and November.
