The macroeconomic prospects and challenges of the eurozone in line with the worldwide geopolitical developments at the table of today’s Eurogroup meeting
The Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings will be attended by the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis, who is currently going to Brussels.
The agenda includes a debate on the macroeconomic prospects and challenges of the eurozone in relation to global geopolitical developments as well as the European Commission’s economic policy recommendations.
In addition, Bulgarian Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova will present the progress made in terms of fulfilling the criteria for the adoption of the euro while The Eurogroup work program for the first half of 2025 is expected to be approved.
At the Ecofin meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, February 18th, the central topic of discussion will be Competitiveness Compass, which sets the key priorities for simplifying and improving the business environment in the coming years.
It will also be discussed the Economic and budgetary impact of Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
The Council is expected to approve the EU annual budget guidelines for 2026, the conclusions on the European Alert Mechanism, the revised Union List Eurozone economic policy and the medium -term budgetary -dramatic plans submitted by the Member States in the context of the implementation of the framework for economic governance.
Finally, there will be information on the implementation of the recovery and durability Fund while revised national plans for Latvia and Belgium are expected to be approved.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Mr. Hatzidakis will meet with European officials.
