In the centralization of customs controls and at the same time in their digital upgrade, with the addition of new digital operations to ICISnet, the Independent Public Revenue Authority is proceeding.

The new, centralized digital ecosystem of customs controls supports the operation of the Customs Centers and facilitates more than 80,000 traders for nearly 1,000,0000 transactions a year. By enhancing the speed, transparency and effectiveness of the processes, it ensures public revenue and facilitates the country’s legal trade.

Specifically, with the Circular E. 2006/2025 of the Governor of AADE, George Pitsilis, and Directive O 3005/2025 the following is provided:

A. Centralization of Customs Control of Documents and accompanying supporting documents

From 24/2/2025 to 30/5/2025, 53 Customs of Attica, Central Greece, Western Greece, Peloponnese, Crete and Aegean islands are part of the centralized audit functions of documents to be carried out by the Customs Center for Attica (see. Below Customs Inclusion Planning in Attica).

With the launch of the Customs Center for Thessaloniki, which is planned in 2025, they will join the centralization of the audit and the rest of the customs of northern Greece.

B. Mandatory Digital Submission of Entry Document

Most of the documents for the declaration of importation during the customs process shall be compulsory digitally submitted (A.1023/2025 of the Governor of AADE) by the traders. This accelerates the processing of customs formalities and reduces the need for physical presence of the traders, as supporting documents will be presented in original form at customs only if requested during audit.

C.

From 24/2/2025 the following are produced in the ICISnet:

New status “under attachment of supporting documents”

With the digital submission of the DEFK or the entry declaration, the customs document is in a state of “under attachment” and an 30 -minute timer is activated, in which the trader must submit the required supporting documents to digitally the required supporting documents, in order to submit the required supporting documents. The process is completed.

Digitized Communication with Customs Services

If additional information is required during the audit, the Customs Service communicates with the traders exclusively through messages, on the digital platform. In this way the process becomes faster, more effective and transparent, saving significant administrative costs for traders.

AADE Governor G. Pitsilis said: “Customs are upgraded. Centralizing customs control is our strategic choice. Utilizing the new technologies, customs control is now becoming remotely ensuring its transparency and integrity, allowing us to more effectively target smuggling. At the same time, the digitization of customs processes allows us to focus with immediacy on the needs of healthy trade, with the aim of security of citizens and the development of the country. “
