The International Competition for the allocation of Hydrocarbons Research and Research Rights in the “A2” and “South of the Peloponnese” in the South Ionian Sea area is announced by decision of the Minister of Environment and Energy, Theodoros Skylakakis.

The notice, as the RIS notes, follows the acceptance of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the relevant expression of interest in the above areas by Chevron and Helleniq Energy.

The decision approves the Declaration of the tender issued by the Hellenic Hydrocarbons and Energy Resources Management Society (EDEEP), which is initially published in the Government Gazette and then in the official newspaper of the European Union. The bidding period will take 90 days from the date of publication of the notice in the Official Journal of the European Union.

It is noted that the bidding process has already begun, as on 23/1 Mr. Skylakakis has signed a decision, which determines the exact boundaries of the marine areas, for which the right to investigate and exploit hydrocarbon exploitation.
