The cases handled by the Consumer Ombudsman in 2024, with sectors that show the biggest increases being consumer goods (27.9%increase) and financial services (21.1%increase).

On the occasion of this year’s World Consumer Day (March 15th) Consumer lawyer Anna Stratinakis made the following statement:

“The message of World Consumer Day (March 15) is timeless, timely and essential for Greek society: Consumer protection in their interaction with the market. Right and Need.

This message honors and serves in every field and in every way, primarily, the Independent “Consumer Ombudsman” authority, which performs an important, institutional, mediation and reconciliation role between the consumer and a modern but at the same time difficult and multi -faceted buying environment.

For 2024, the Consumer Ombudsman was called upon to face an increased load load resulting from the increasing trend of the number of reports at both the Authority and the European Consumer Center.

Specifically, the number of cases handled by both has increased by 2024 by 14.1%by 2023, ie 19,061 cases (compared to 16,709 in 2023), with sectors that show the largest increases being consumer goods (27.9%increase) and financial services (21%increase).

In the face of this key period of increased needs, the Consumer Ombudsman declares and remains committed to resolving the disputes that arise daily between the consumer and the market, contributing with other services to the Ministry of Development and other relevant principles in the proper functioning of the market.

In 2025 we hope it is a year for the beginning to achieve its institutional empowerment in order to transform it into a modern -day consumer.
