The programs are the core of the strategy of the Ministry of Digital Governance for the country’s digital upgrade
With the aim of acquiring high -speed broadband connections and promoting digital transformation in Greece, the Information Society (MAE) implements two innovative programs, Smart Readiness and Gigabit Voucher.
These programs are the core of the Ministry of Digital Government’s strategy for the country’s digital upgrade, implemented in the context of the National Plan of Recovery and Resilience Greece 2.0. With the funding of the European Union – NextGenerationeu and enhance the creation of modern digital infrastructure, access to high -speed broadband services, and the “smart readiness” of buildings.
Smart Readiness program
The “Smart Readiness” program grants the installation of fiber optic networks in buildings, facilitating the provision of high -speed broadband services, while supporting the installation of infrastructure for the future interconnection of smart utilities.
The grant is calculated on the basis of the number of floors and the categories of tasks:
Applications for the issuance of coupons are submitted until June 30, 2025, and redemption is completed by October 31, 2025.
It is clarified that the work of the installer does not force the manager or tenants to contract with a specific provider.
Geographical coverage
The program covers buildings within areas with existing or planned broadband infrastructure that support 1 Gbps speeds. Also included are buildings up to 1,000 meters from these areas. Covering maps are constantly renewed by providers as they expand their networks.
Gigabit Voucher program
Following the installation of vertical fiber optic wiring, the “Gigabit Voucher” program comes to subsidize the cost of installing the horizontal wiring, terminal equipment and activation for speeds from 250 Mbps or more. It provides 200 euro coupons, covering part of the connection and monthly subscription for the first 24 months.
Applications are submitted by September 30, 2025 for households and September 15, 2025 for SMEs (including traders). The redemption of the coupons ends on October 31, 2025.
Combined Programs Value and Benefits for Beneficiaries
The combined implementation of the two programs accelerates the transition to the digital age, offering significant benefits for households and businesses.
Smart Readiness upgrades buildings with high -speed networks, turning them into “smart”. The Gigabit Voucher then utilizes the infrastructure for connections of at least 250 Mbps, reducing the cost of connecting and subscription to 200 euros.
The two programs cover the following needs:
Improved connectivity: Instalization of fiber optic through Smart Readiness creates the necessary infrastructure for Gigabit Voucher high -speed services.
Financial relief: The cost of connection and subscription is significantly reduced through the coupons, making these services accessible to more citizens and businesses.
Modernization of utilities: Infrastructure is supported to interconnect smart cash (electricity, gas) without additional work by managers, as well as sensors for the safety and energy efficiency of the building (eg boiler room, lift).
