“Santorini remains one of the leading world tourist destinations, unique natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and excellent hospitality. Despite the recent earthquake activity, the island gradually returns to normal and prepares for a dynamic tourist season. ” The above was emphasized by Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogiannis, in her statements after the broad meeting, during her visit to the island, at a critical time for the tourist destination. The meeting, co -ordinated by the Mayor of Thira Nikos Zorzos, was attended by MPs of Cyclades, representatives of the South Aegean Region, as well as representatives of tourist bodies and local community.

Ms Kefalogiannis pointed out that the state is present and is taking the necessary measures for the safety of residents, visitors and tourism professionals. From the first moment, the government has acted with plan and responsibility, in cooperation with the relevant scientific committees, which continue to closely monitor the situation. At the same time, infrastructure is reinforced and civil protection plans are updated.

In addition, the minister emphasized that messages from international tourism markets are encouraging, as interest in Santorini remains high. Indeed, he mentioned the positive response to the Berlin International Tourism Fair, which proves that with proper management, the tourist season of 2025 will be kept high.

“Santorini is a safe, organized and responsible destination, completely ready to welcome travelers from all over the world. Concluding, she stressed that Greece knows how to manage crises, protect its people – residents and visitors – and safeguarding its tourist identity. Santorini will continue to be a reference point on the world tourist map, demonstrating its strength, durability and constant charm.

Earlier, the Minister of Tourism presented to local agencies the strategic interventions and measures for the tourist recovery and viability of the island. He announced the funding of the TAA of the creation and operation of the DMMO after the signing of a program contract between the Ministry and the Municipality.

As he said, “Santorini, one of the most iconic tourist destinations in the world, is at the heart of the government strategy to restore smoothness and ensure the smooth operation of tourism activity.”

Ms Kefalogiannis closed the meeting by sending a clear message of cooperation and optimism: “Santorini has faced challenges in the past and has successfully overcome them. With all the forces, the island will continue to be a top tourist destination, safe, sustainable and dynamic on the world tourist map. “

The Minister of Tourism was accompanied by the new Deputy Minister of Tourism Anna Karamanlis, the Secretary General of Tourism Policy and Development Vassiliki Koutsoukou, the Vice President of EOT and Advisor Minister Konstantinos Zikos and the President of the FIE Alexandros Vassilikos.
