The United States has recorded the first, 2017, rise of the deadly influenza of H7N9 on a poultry farm, as the country is trying to deal with another bird influenza executive infecting humans and has caused the price of eggs to heights.
The spread of bird flu has ruined poultry populations around the world, causing problems in supplying and increasing food prices. Its dissemination to mammals, including dairy cows in the US, has caused governments fears for the risk of a new pandemic.
The executive that has caused the greatest damage to poultry in recent years and the death of a man in the US is H5N1.
But H7N9 turned out to have a much higher death rate, killing almost 40% of people infected after being first found in 2013, according to the World Health Organization.
The latest surge of H7N9 was found on a 47,654 Poultry Commercial Reproduction Farm in Mississippi, the World Animal Health Organization, based in Paris, said in a report released today, citing US authorities.
“Very pathogenic influenza of the birds (HPAI) of the North American Wild Birds has been found on a poultry breeding farm. The deportation of the affected population is ongoing,” the report said.
“The Ministry of Health (Animal and Plants Inspection Service – Aphis) in coordinating with state animal health and wildlife officials, are conducting a detailed epidemiological research and increased surveillance in response to the tracked,” he added.
