Significant arrangement to improve the collection of insurance contributions by KEO and enhance the sustainability and reciprocity of the insurance system
A provision by which E-EFKA may entrust legal entities to private law supporting services related to the management of overdue insurance debt, the Minister of Labor and Social Security Niki Kerameos submitted to Parliament.
The purpose of the regulation is to enhance the collection of insurance contributions to enhance both the sustainability and the reciprocity of the insurance system. The debts to E-EFKA today reach 49 billion euros, with € 32 billion being the main ones, while the rest of the surcharges.
According to the provision, the support services to the Center for Insurance Debt Collection (KEAO) will be entrusted to legal entities of private law with international tender, while the contracts will provide for specific terms for the protection of personal data and how to communicate with debtors.
It should be noted that the collection of the debts will continue to take place solely by the Center for Insurance Debt (KEAO).
The Minister of Labor and Social Security Niki Kerameos said: ‘The provision we submitted to the House is an important incision of justice and equality for the insured. We are upgrading the procedures and operation of the insurance debt collection Center, utilizing experience, know -how and modern technological tools from the private sector, to enhance the viability of our insurance system and its reciprocity, since the additional revenue will be able to use them to improve their revenue and their revenue will be used to improve their insurance system.“
The benefits of this layout are multiple:
- The debts to be collected will be allowed to provide aid to insured and retirees.
- With the reduction of debts, the viability of the insurance system will be significantly enhanced.
- E-EFKA will be able to utilize the experience and use of modern technological tools for private law in the process of informing debtors, such as the adoption of practices, mild approach, as opposed to pressure practices and threats to forced seizures.
Strengthening the process of collecting the debt to E-EFKA is imperative for reasons:
- Justice: Debt collection reinforces justice and equality among all insured persons, restoring injustice to the detriment of those who are consistent, but also enhances healthy competition between businesses, since non -payment of insurance contributions forms of unlawful competition, at the expense of their undertaking.
- Reliability: The pursuit of debt collection is an important component of credibility of the insurance system, which may not be indifferent to unpaid amounts and reinforcement of reliability increases future collection, since natural and legal persons know that any debts will be sought and collected. Thus, the viability of the system is reinforced in yet another way.
- Reception: Debt collection enhances the reciprocity of the insurance system, as it allows the use of additional revenue to improve benefits to insured and retirees.
